DIY Hot Pads

Hi! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday, whatever it is that you celebrate.  We had a good Christmas over here! I am now the owner of a Brother Innov-is sewing and embroidery machine.  I am so excited to start playing with it up it is going to be a couple weeks since we are in SoCal and we didn’t drive so we have to figure out if we want to ship it given all the lovely fedex stuff that has gone on lately or if we are better off waiting for our friend who is coming up to Sacramento in a couple of weeks. That is probably the most cost efficient thing to do but we will see, either way I will be anxiously awaiting my machine’s arrival.

Onto the good stuff DIY Hot Pads. So I have been trying to dwindle down my craft crap (to put it nicely ;]) and well I found a set of four 6x6  corkboards. I was thinking of covering them with fabric and putting them on the wall but then I thought about it and really did not want to do that but I had no idea what to do with them. So here I am pondering what to make when right on the package it says hot pads and well I don’t have any of those right now so I figured now was a good time to make some!

Cork Boards (can cut to size or cut to a different shape)
¼ of two different fabrics
Heat Bond Ultra
Iron & Mat
Rotary Mat And Rotary Blade or scissors

So I made pillows the other day and had plenty of leftover fabric so I decided to use it to cover some hot pads. I  Ironed on some heat bond and cut four 6x6 squares I also cut some strips to add some decoration.

Once I had all my fabric cut and layout I started ironing them to the coasters and voila! Super easy and super cute!
