Happy Halloween Y’all!
I hope you all have a fabulous day and stay safe!
Now I have a new obsession… thrift shopping. I just love the refashioning and changing aspect so I get a brand new to me pair of shoes that could cost $20 or more for $5. Yay for being on a budget :/ but at least I make it work!
Now since I completely failed at before pictures of the clothing I changed I needed to make sure I did a project for all of you.
At the thrift store I picked up two pairs of flats… 1 pair was a bright orange and the other pair was a shiny black with a bow.
I was looking for flats to be more useful for everyday/ when I go back to working in an office. So I started by getting rid of the bright orange. Wearing orange doesn’t work for me and doesn’t really go with anything I own.
I took the shoes and pulled out some acrylic paint- black. I painted 3 layers total to get nice even coverage. I let the black dry and then wanted to add a little more.
I took some black glitter and modpodge a thick mix of mostly glitter and painted it over the now black flats. I let them dry and they now have a subtle sparkle.
For the second thrift pair of shoes that were a shiny black I scuffed them up a bit and then painted them with a mix of modpodge and silver glitter… It took about 4 coats and it is best to let it dry between each coat to get the best coverage.
After they dried I put the bow I cut off at the beginning back onto the shoes using a little E6000.
And now I have two new pairs of shoes that are comfy and cute and most of all super affordable!
** The glitter I prefer to use is the Martha Stewart brand. I find it is fine enough that it works the best **
