Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese

I love food. I think you knew this already but in case you didn’t let me proclaim it again.. I LOVE FOOD! I am a foodie and this is not a problem unless you live with me since I like to talk about food a lot but then again that is how this blog got started!

With me being a super foodie I came up with this amazing sandwich.
A Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese! It was epic and it was invented using leftovers and it is amazing.

Now to make things easier you could use a sloppy joe seasoning mix from McCormick or whatever other brand you can find but I like to control what goes into my recipes so I made my own.

My Sloppy Joe Seasoning looked like this: (Enough for 1lb of ground turkey)
1 tsp Celery Salt
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tbs Garlic Powder
1 ½ tbs Dried Chopped Onions
¼ tsp Chili Flakes
½ tsp White Pepper
½ tsp Onion Powder
¼ tsp Dried Mustard

If you want to go that way then do it, if you don’t then buy a packet it is up to you.

In addition to seasoning you will need:
Ground Meat (1 lb for 4 servings) I use lean turkey
Tomato Paste (1/2 of the baby can—freeze the rest)
Cheese
Bread
Mayo/Butter

I start by browning the meat. Once it is nice and cooked I add the seasoning, tomato paste and water to equal the amount of tomato paste.
Mix well and remove from heat.

Assemble the sandwiches. I use mayo on my bread since I like the way it browns so either mayo or butter on both slices of bread.  Lay both Mayo sides together and then layer 1 slice of cheese on the bread. Top the cheese with a hearty scoop of meat and top with another slice of cheese.
Put in the pan mayo side of bread down and top with the other slice of bread (mayo side out). Let the sandwich brown on one side before flipping and browning the other.
I like to press my sandwich down a bit once I flip the sandwich to sort of compress it.

Slice in half or eat whole it is amazing either way.
So go make it.. cause it is really that good.
